- The International Booker Prize, a literary award presented annually, recognises the best works of long-form fiction or collections of short stories translated into English and published in the UK and/or Ireland. It was established in 2005.
- Formerly known as the Man Booker International Prize, the award carries a prize money of 50,000 pounds.
- It is administered by the Booker Prize Foundation, a registered charity in the United Kingdom.

- The International Booker Prize is distinct from the Booker Prize, which was first awarded in 1969.
- The key difference lies in the language of origin:
- The Booker Prize is awarded to the best original novel written in English.
- The International Booker Prize honours the best work of fiction translated into English from any other language.
- Both awards serve as sister prizes within the Booker Prize Foundation.
Why in News?
- The International Booker Prize 2026 has been awarded to ‘Taiwan Travelogue’ by Taiwanese author Yáng Shuāng-zǐ, translated into English by Lin King.
Did you know?
- In 2025, Indian writer Banu Mushtaq and translator Deepa Bhasthi won the International Booker Prize for the collection of short stories, “Heart Lamp”.
