class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India\u2019s&nbsp;economic&nbsp;growth&nbsp;<\/strong>is&nbsp;expected&nbsp;to&nbsp;touch&nbsp;<strong>7.6%<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>in<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>current<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>financial<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>year<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>2025-<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>26<\/strong>&nbsp;as&nbsp;per&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>second<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>advance<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>estimates<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>of<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>GDP<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>based<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>on<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>new<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>and<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>updated<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>series<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This&nbsp;is&nbsp;<strong>faster<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>than<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>7.4%<\/strong>&nbsp;predicted&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;first&nbsp;advance&nbsp;estimates&nbsp;for&nbsp;2025-26&nbsp;released&nbsp;in&nbsp;January,&nbsp;which&nbsp;was&nbsp;based&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;older&nbsp;series.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>new<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>series<\/strong>&nbsp;has&nbsp;<strong>revised<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>downward<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>growth<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>for<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>2023-24<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>to<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>7.2%<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;the&nbsp;9.2%&nbsp;estimated&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;old&nbsp;series,&nbsp;and&nbsp;has&nbsp;<strong>revised<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>upward<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>growth<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>for<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>2024-25<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>to<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>7.1%<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;the&nbsp;earlier&nbsp;estimate&nbsp;of&nbsp;6.5%.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>According&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;new&nbsp;data,&nbsp;<strong>India\u2019s nominal GDP&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2014 which&nbsp;is&nbsp;essentially&nbsp;the&nbsp;size&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;economy&nbsp;\u2014 has&nbsp;been&nbsp;<strong>revised<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>downward<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>for<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>three<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>years<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>spanning<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>2023-26<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;data&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;new&nbsp;series&nbsp;shows&nbsp;that&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>size<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>of<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>the<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>economy<\/strong>&nbsp;is&nbsp;expected&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;<strong>\u20b9345.47 lakh<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>crore<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>2025-26,<\/strong>&nbsp;which&nbsp;is&nbsp;about&nbsp;<strong>3.3%<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>smaller<\/strong>&nbsp;than&nbsp;what&nbsp;was&nbsp;predicted&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;first&nbsp;advance&nbsp;estimates&nbsp;based&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;old&nbsp;series.&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Further,&nbsp;the&nbsp;size&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;economy&nbsp;in&nbsp;both&nbsp;2023-24&nbsp;and&nbsp;2024 25&nbsp;has&nbsp;been&nbsp;revised&nbsp;downward&nbsp;by&nbsp;3.8%&nbsp;each.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since the <strong>fiscal deficit<\/strong> is calculated as a <strong>share of GDP<\/strong>, a <strong>lower GDP base automatically pushes the ratio up<\/strong>, raising the <strong>2025\u201126 (RE) fiscal deficit estimate<\/strong> from 4.36% to <strong>4.51% of GDP<\/strong> even though the deficit amount itself is unchanged.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fiscal deficit is the difference between the government\u2019s total expenditure and its total
