{"id":1590,"date":"2026-08-10T06:50:51","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T06:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/materials.simplycurrentaffairs.com\/?p=1590"},"modified":"2026-08-13T06:51:52","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T06:51:52","slug":"eklavya-model-residential-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/materials.simplycurrentaffairs.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/10\/eklavya-model-residential-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Eklavya Model Residential Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Eklavya Model Residential Schools<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>About<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) is a <strong>Central Sector Scheme<\/strong> implemented by the<strong> Ministry of Tribal Affairs<\/strong> to provide <strong>quality residential education to Scheduled Tribes (ST) students<\/strong> in remote areas.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Launched in <strong>1997-98,<\/strong> each school has a <strong>capacity of 480 students<\/strong>, catering to students from<strong> Class VI to XII.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The schools focus not only on academic education but on the <strong>all-round development <\/strong>of the students.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The government aims to establish EMRS in <strong>every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EMRS are set up in States\/UTs with grants under <strong>Article 275(1)<\/strong> of the Constitution of India.\u202f\u00a0\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Article 275(1) <\/em><strong><em>guarantees grants-in-aid from the Consolidated Fund of India <\/em><\/strong><em>each year for promoting the welfare of Scheduled Tribes.
