has-vivid-red-color\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>About<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Fugitive Economic Offenders (FEO) Act, 2018 was promulgated with the main objective of <strong>ensuring that economic offenders return to India to face prosecution.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>According to the Act, a <strong>FEO <\/strong>is an <strong>individual<\/strong> who has <strong>committed specified economic offences <\/strong>involving an amount of <strong>Rs 100 crore or more <\/strong>and has <strong>absconded from India or refused to come back to India to avoid criminal prosecution.<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Economic offences relate to fraud, counterfeiting, money-laundering, and tax evasion, among others.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the Act, upon declaration as FEO, the <strong>properties and assets may be confiscated <\/strong>and <strong>vested by the Centre<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This includes not just the <strong>properties directly owned by the FEO and affiliated organisations<\/strong> but also any and all <strong>benami properties owned by the offender.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Act also empowers <strong>courts and tribunals<\/strong> across the country to <strong>disentitle anyone declared as a FEO from filing or
