  • Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) is a statutory body<\/strong> established under the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act, 1992 <\/strong>to hear and dispose of appeals<\/strong> against orders passed by SEBI<\/strong> or by an adjudicating officer under the Act.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • SAT also hears and disposes of appeals against orders passed by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA)<\/strong> and the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI).<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The Tribunal will have the same powers as vested in a civil court <\/strong>while trying a suit.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • SAT has only one bench which sits at Mumbai.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Composition:<\/mark><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • SAT consists one Presiding Officer<\/strong> and such number of Judicial and Technical Members<\/strong> as the Central Government<\/strong> may determine.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The person so appointed as the Presiding Officer<\/strong> should meet with the following requirements<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\n
        \n
      • The retired or sitting Judge of the Supreme Court;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The retired or sitting Chief Justice of a High Court;\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The retired or sitting Judge of High Court<\/strong>, who has completed at least seven years of service<\/strong> as a Judge in a High Court.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The tenure<\/strong> for Presiding Officer and Members will be five years<\/strong> from the date of appointment or re-appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Appeal:<\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
