  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • In 2014<\/strong>, India<\/strong> became the first country<\/strong> in the world to legally mandate<\/strong> CSR for certain companies under the Companies Act 2013<\/strong>, which compels them to engage in activities that contribute to the social, environmental, and economic development <\/strong>of the country.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Criteria<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • The provisions of CSR applies to every company fulfilling any of the following conditions in the preceding financial year:<\/strong>\u00a0\n
        \n
      • Net worth of more than Rs.500 crore<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Turnover of more than Rs.1000 crore<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Net profit of more than Rs.5 crore.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The Board of Directors<\/strong> of every company for which the CSR provisions apply must ensure that the company spends in every financial year at least 2% of their average net profits made during the past three financial years<\/strong> on permitted CSR activities<\/mark> such as health, sanitation, education, skill development, disaster management, restoration of environment, sustainable development goals etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Activities not eligible for CSR activity<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        • Activities are undertaken in pursuance of the normal course of business<\/strong> of the company;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Expenditures that benefit the company directly or its employees;<\/strong><\/mark>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Contribution of any amount directly or indirectly to any political party;<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Activities are undertaken outside India<\/strong>, except for training of Indian sports personnel representing any State or Union Territory at national level or India at international level;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Contribution of any amount, directly or indirectly, to any political party<\/strong>;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Sponsorship activities for deriving marketing benefits<\/strong> for products\/services;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Activities for fulfilling statutory obligations<\/strong> under any law in force in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
