{"id":1468,"date":"2026-07-16T09:11:48","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T09:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/materials.simplycurrentaffairs.com\/?p=1468"},"modified":"2026-07-27T09:11:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T09:11:56","slug":"mobile-phone-manufacturing-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/materials.simplycurrentaffairs.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/16\/mobile-phone-manufacturing-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>What\u2019s in the news?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Union Cabinet has approved the <strong>Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) <\/strong>to <strong>further expand domestic mobile phone production, increase value addition, strengthen supply chains <\/strong>and<strong> enhance India\u2019s competitiveness in global electronics manufacturing.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new scheme will be implemented over <strong>five years<\/strong> from<strong> FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group border-list\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India<\/strong> is now the<strong> world\u2019s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer by volume, <\/strong>with <strong>99.2 per cent of the mobile phones used in the country being manufactured domestically.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Smartphones<\/strong> have become <strong>India\u2019s largest export product category <\/strong>in 2025, surpassing traditional export leaders such as diesel fuel and cut diamonds.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Benefits under the Scheme<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under the scheme, manufacturers will receive<strong> incentive support on eligible sales of mobile phones produced in India<\/strong> at <strong>differentiated rates ranging from 2.25 per cent to 5 per cent<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Manufacturers will also receive an<strong> additional incentive of up to 1.5 per cent <\/strong>for <strong>increased domestic sourcing<\/strong> of key components and sub-assemblies.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To<strong> encourage indigenous innovation<\/strong>, the scheme offers an <strong>additional 3 per cent incentive on eligible sales<\/strong> for <strong>companies investing in product design, research and development<\/strong>, and the<strong> creation of Indian brands.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scheme is expected to generate cumulative mobile phone production worth around \u20b939 lakh crore during its tenure, significantly increase exports and create approximately 60,000 direct jobs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme What\u2019s in the news?
