  • The NAMASTE (National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem) is a Central Sector Scheme <\/strong>launched in 2023<\/strong> to ensure safety and dignity of sanitation workers. <\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The scheme aims at prevention of hazardous cleaning<\/strong> and promotion of safe cleaning practices<\/strong> through trained and certified sanitation workers.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • It also aims to formalize and rehabilitate <\/strong>the persons engaged in hazardous cleaning of sewer and septic tanks.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The scheme is jointly being implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) <\/strong>and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The National Safai Karamcharis Finance Development Corporation (NSKFDC) <\/strong>under the MoSJE is the implementing agency of \u2018NAMASTE\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • NSKFDC is a wholly owned Govt. of India Undertaking<\/strong> under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • It was set up in 1997 as a Company “Not for Profit”<\/strong> under the Companies Act, 1956.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • NSKFDC is the apex corporation<\/strong> for the all-round socio-economic upliftment of the Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependents<\/strong> throughout India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
