About<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • On 26th January 2002, the Indian flag code was\u00a0modified\u00a0and after several years of Independence, the\u00a0citizens of India were finally allowed to hoist the Indian flag<\/strong>\u00a0over their homes, offices and factories on any\u00a0day\u00a0and not just National days as was the case earlier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Salient Features of the Code<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • The National Flag shall be made of\u00a0hand-spun and hand-woven or machine-made, cotton, polyester, wool, silk, khadi bunting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • A\u00a0member of the public, a private\u00a0organisation\u00a0or an educational institution\u00a0<\/strong>may hoist\/display the National Flag on all days and occasions, ceremonial or otherwise, consistent with the dignity and\u00a0honour\u00a0of the National Flag.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The National Flag shall be a\u00a0tri-colour\u00a0panel\u00a0<\/strong>made up of three rectangular panels or subpanels of equal widths. The\u00a0colour\u00a0of the top panel shall be\u00a0India saffron (Kesari)<\/strong>\u00a0and that of the bottom panel shall be\u00a0India green.\u00a0<\/strong>The middle panel shall be\u00a0white<\/strong>, bearing at its\u00a0centre\u00a0the design of\u00a0Ashoka Chakra\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0navy blue\u00a0colour\u00a0with 24 equally spaced spokes.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Where the Flag is displayed in the open, it should, as far as possible, be\u00a0flown from sunrise to sunset<\/strong>, irrespective of weather conditions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Whenever the National Flag is displayed, it should\u00a0occupy the position of\u00a0honour\u00a0and should be distinctly placed<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • A damaged or\u00a0dishevelled\u00a0Flag shall not be displayed.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The Flag\u00a0should not be flown on a single masthead simultaneously with any other flag or flags.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The Flag\u00a0should not be flown on any vehicle except of the dignitaries\u00a0<\/strong>mentioned in Section IX of Part III of the Flag Code, such as President, Vice President, Prime-Minister, Governors,\u00a0etc.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • No other flag should be placed higher than or above or side by side\u00a0<\/strong>with the National Flag.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The National Flag shall be\u00a0rectangular\u00a0<\/strong>in shape.\u00a0The Flag can be of any\u00a0size\u00a0but the\u00a0ratio<\/strong>\u00a0of the length to the height (width) of the Flag shall be\u00a03:2<\/strong>.<\/mark><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
