  • In 2024, the overarching scheme\u00a0\u201cPRITHvi\u00a0VIgyan\u00a0(PRITHVI)\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>of the\u00a0Ministry of Earth Sciences<\/strong>\u00a0was launched to\u00a0study the atmosphere, ocean, predicting weather and Earth system sciences.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The key feature of the PRITHVI scheme is to\u00a0holistically address all the five components of earth system<\/strong>\u00a0namely\u00a0atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere,\u00a0cryosphere\u00a0and biosphere<\/strong>\u00a0to improve the understanding of the Earth System Sciences and to provide reliable services for the country.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The scheme\u00a0encompasses five ongoing sub-schemes\u00a0<\/strong>namely \u201cAtmosphere & Climate Research-Modelling Observing Systems & Services (ACROSS<\/strong>)\u201d, \u201cOcean Services, Modelling Application, Resources and Technology (O-SMART<\/strong>)\u201d, \u201cPolar Science and Cryosphere Research (PACER<\/strong>)\u201d, \u201cSeismology and Geosciences (SAGE<\/strong>)\u201d and \u201cResearch, Education, Training and Outreach (REACHOUT<\/strong>)\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Objectives of the Scheme<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    • Augmentation and sustenance of\u00a0long-term observations<\/strong>\u00a0of the atmosphere, ocean, geosphere,\u00a0cryosphere\u00a0and solid earth to record the vital signs of the Earth System and change;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Development of<\/strong>\u00a0modelling systems<\/strong>\u00a0for understanding and predicting weather, ocean and climate hazards and understanding the science of climate change;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Exploration polar and high seas regions of the Earth<\/strong>\u00a0towards discovery of new phenomena and resources;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Development of technology for\u00a0exploration and sustainable harnessing of oceanic resources<\/strong>\u00a0for societal applications;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
