- The International Convention on Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR Convention) is a maritime safety convention of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted in Hamburg, Germany, in 1979. It entered into force in 1985.
- The Convention is designed to improve existing arrangements and provide a framework for carrying out search and rescue operations following accidents at sea.
- India is a signatory to the Convention, ratified in 2001.
