NAVYA Scheme

About

  • The NAVYA (Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) initiative was launched in 2025 to empower adolescent girls by equipping them with relevant skills for socio-economic independence.
  • It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

Objectives

  • The scheme aims to empower adolescent girls aged 16 to 18 years, who have completed at least Class 10, by providing them with vocational training primarily in non-traditional and futuristic job roles such as digital marketing, cybersecurity, AI-enabled services, green jobs, and other emerging sectors.
  • The scheme also aims to empower them with skills ranging from personal hygiene to communication, workplace safety and financial literacy.
  • NAVYA programme is being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana:

  • PMKVY is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training.
  • Launched in 2015, PMKVY is implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a not-for-profit public limited company set up by the Ministry of Finance.
