Mission Amrit Sarovar
About
- Amrit Sarovar was launched by the Government of India in 2022 with the goal of constructing or rejuvenating 75 Amrit Sarovars (ponds) in each district, totaling 50,000 across the country.
- The initiative was launched to address the critical issue of water scarcity and enhance surface and groundwater availability across various regions.
- Phase II of the Mission, launched in 2023, is envisaged to continue with a renewed focus on ensuring water availability, with community participation (Jan Bhagidaari) at its core.
