About
- Established in 1961, the Asian Productivity Organization is an intergovernmental organization committed to enhancing productivity for sustainable socioeconomic development in the Asia-Pacific region.
- It comprises 21 member economies, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Taiwan, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkiye, and Vietnam.
- India is a founding member of APO.

- APO is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
Why in News?
- As Chair of the Asian Productivity Organization, India hosted the 68th Session of the APO Governing Body in New Delhi.
- The Governing Body is the APO’s highest decision-making authority and meets annually to set the organization’s strategic direction, approve major proposals, and review Secretariat performance.
